A Dominate Day For Our Track Athletes In Athlone

Some magnificent performances today in Athlone from top athletes from all over the country in day 3 of the Irish Life Juvenile Indoor Championship and what a performance for our  athletes.   The day started with Ava Rochford coming 2nd in u14 girls shot putt with a new pb of 12.14.  In the 800m u14 girls Avril Lillis and Ellen Mannion were in their first All-ireland indoors. Avril just missed out on a place to the final running 2.36.15 while Ellen Mannion made it to the final and finished 7th with 2.33.23. Ellie Pike just missed out on a medal finishing 4th in the u16 girls final running 2.25.19. Ben Deasy came out on top coming 1st in the u18 boys 800m in 1.57.76. Ava rochford later continued her success to come 3rd in the u14 60m hurdles closely followed by William Bello with 3rd in the u14 boys 60m hurdles. Both stared in the all-ireland multievents previously. Also in the hurdles and 3rd was Chisom Ugwuera in the u17 girls. Finally there was more gold with Ailbhe Doherty coming 1st in the U16 Girls 200m in 25.44, Shawn Benson 1st in the u19 Boys 200m 22.33 while Gabriel Kehinde just missed out coming 4th in 23.45. Alot of these performances were also personal bests which shows the continued hard work and progression of our track athletes in what was a dominate day for the track.

Ava Rochford 2nd in the U14 Shot Put.  She was also 3rd in the U14 60mH in 9.47.

William Bello  3rd in the U14 60mH in 9.88    Ailbhe Doherty won the girls U16 200m in 25.44.

 

 

Chisom Ugwuera 3rd in the girls U17 60mH in 9.24.

Ben Deasy  gave a sterling performance and came through well in 1:57.76 to win the U18 800m.

Shawn Benson came 1st in the U19 200m in 22.74
