Cross-Country Season

September to December is the cross-country season! Time to dig out those spikes and get ready for the mud! ALL athletes training with Ennis Track are expected to participate in the Clare cross-country racing fixtures, which take place in October and November.

It is the taking part that counts, each child’s position counts and, at all times, do your best!

Every child has two chances to win a medal: there are 10 individual medals, plus 3 team medals to be won! Each athlete runs as part of a team, so failing to turn up for the race is letting his/her teammates down, not to mention the coaches who give so much of their time.

Race-Day Necessities

Being well-equipped is half the battle on race days. Following is the list of must-haves:

  • Suitable runners or running spikes (9mm max). It can get quite slippery out there, so good grip helps keep athletes upright!
  • An Ennis Track Club T-Shirt (contact Hilda: 086-2351969).
  • Suitable clothing for our unpredictable weather. Rain jacket and fleecy tops please. There is no bad weather, only unsuitable clothes!
  • A nutritious lunch including a bottle of water.
