Tony Odubote to represent Ireland

Tony Odubote won the boys U16 national 100m hurdle title in a time of 13.34 – just four hundredths of a second off the national record, set by Daniel Ryan who will be competing for Ireland in the European Youth Olympics this summer. This win entitles Tony to represent Ireland in the Celtic Games on 1st August in Glasgow. The Celtic Games record in the 100m hurdles (again set by Daniel Ryan) is 13.58, well within Tony’s range.
He will be defending his 100m and 200m national titles this weekend. He set a national record in the 200m last year, and has already set two Munster records in the 100m and 200m this year. All going well, he will be able to enjoy what his natural talent offers in the future.
