National Intermediate Cross Country Champions

Fresh from their National Novice Cross Country Title. Five Ennis Track men Brian Murphy, Karl Fitzmaurice, Dara, Kevin and Patrick Chesser made the long trip up to Dundalk to claim Ennis Track’s very first National Intermediate Cross Country Title. It was an 8 Km long, mucky and tough course. These conditions made it very difficult for the athletes to run quick. The five men packed very well together to take home the national title in fine style, over 40 points ahead of St Abbans in second place. The results were as the following, Karl fitzmaurice  6th place, Dara Chesser who made a long trip form the UK to compete for his beloved club 7th place, Kevin Chesser 11th place. The youngest Chesser Patrick finished in a brilliant 13th place showing his pedigree in his first time competing in the event. Brian Murphy brought home the team in a terrific 31st place. Its a brilliant start to the season for Ennis Track. A lot of thanks has to go  to  coach Pat Hogan and to Jerry Hayes, both ever present at these important days for our club. The five men were also part of County winning team. The master Ennis Track athletes claimed an impressive sixth in the O50’s event.
