Clare Juvenile Indoor Championships

The indoor season got off to a mighty start for our juveniles this weekend, with Ennis Track athletes bringing home a huge medal haul! All the hard winter work paid off as our boys and girls pitted themselves against County Clare’s best. Following is a preliminary report of some of our athletes’ achievements.   • U9 Girls: Faye Mannion won gold in the 300m.
  • U10 Girls: Mollie Lahiffe won the silver medal in the 500 m; Ciara Healy won bronze in the long jump.
  • U11 Girls: Ciara Frawley was 3rd in the long jump.
  • U11 Boys: Leo Johnson won silver in the long jump.
  • U12 Boys: Eoin Ryan won bronze in the long jump.
  • U13 Girls: Golden girl Ava Rochford won gold in the long jump; she also won gold in the high jump, setting a new county record in the process; gold in the shot putt, setting another Clare indoor record in the process. She finished her day’s work off with gold in the 60m sprint. Ennis Track had a monopoly on the medals in the U13 shot putt with Aisling Moloney and Avril Lillis taking silver and bronze, respectively. Neasa Ní Lachtnain won silver medal in the 1000m walk.
  • U13 Boys: Eoin Lahiffe won silver in the U13 high jump.
  • U14 Girls: Neasa Ní Ainféin won gold in her 800m race. Ruth Leyden was 3rd in the high jump.
  • U14 Boys: Colin Ryan won gold in the long jump with a 4.50m pb. He also won silver in both the 800-m race and the 60-m sprint. Efe Opouro was the gold medallist in the U14 60-m sprint.
  • U15 Boys: Twins Dylan and Dean Casey were first and second, respectively, in the 800m.
