National Junior & U23 Championships

There were eight Ennis Track athletes in contention at the GloHealth National Junior and U23 Championships in Tullamore on Sunday. Jemil Saidi was 6th in the Junior Men’s triple jump with a jump of 12.40m; Jemil also competed in the Junior Men’s 400m, coming 4th in his heat in a time of 52.84s. Celtic Games

Congratulations to Tony Odubote and Sean Collins who played their part in the Irish team at Suturday’s Celtic Games in Morton Stadium. Tony was 3rd in the Boys U16 200m in a time of 23.78s. Tony was also part of the U16 4x100m relay team which brought home silver. Sean missed out on a medal in the U18 2000m steeplechase in a time of 6:46.85. SIAB Schools GOLD

Kevin Mulcaire has added to his considerable tally of gold medals this year with a great win at the 3000m SIAB schools track and field in Cardiff. [spacer style=”1″] A team of over 80 Irish schools athletes will travel to Cardiff on the 19th of July for the SIAB schools international event. They will be competing in a 21-event programme and against top schools athletes from England, Wales and Scotland. Ennis Track had six athletes competing on day 2 of the GloHealth Juvenile Track & Field Championships in Tullamore. Sean Collins wins the U18 boys 3ooom steeplechase in a time of 9:53.65.  Well done to Sean and his coach Pat Hogan. In the Boys U15 100m Tony Odubote also finished first in a time of  11.54. New 3000m PB for Kevin Mulcaire

It was wonderful to see the red and white of Ennis Track at Cork City Sports tonight. Laura Power ran her Junior Ladies 1500m in a time of 5:11.22, while Sean Collins covered the Junior Men’s 1500m in 4:06.30, coming in 8th overall. Then it was all eyes on Kevin Mulcaire in the final race of the night, which saw him knock almost 9 seconds off his PB for the 3000 m. Bronze at All-Ireland U23 Track & Field

At the recent All-Ireland Junior & U23 Track & Field Championships in Santry, Darragh Lynch had an outstanding performance winning him the bronze medal in the U23 Mens 1500m. His time of 3:59.38 was a new PB. Meanwhile his club mates Sean Collins and Laura Power put in solid performances with Sean coming fourth in the Junior 3000m steeplechase in a time of 10:17.17, while Laura was 7th in the Junior Ladies 1500m in a time of 4:55.07.
