3 of our athletes were in action in Edinburgh on Saturday 9th of January competing in the Great Edinburgh Cross Country Event where they were wearing the green of Ireland singlet. All roads led to St. Augustine’s College, Dungarvan on Sunday 6th December 2015 and the highlight of the day was saved for the last race involving over two hundred athletes. A good start was achieved by the Ennis men of Dara Chesser, Karl Fitzmaurice, Keven Chesser, Patrick Chesser and Brian Murphy. Kevin Mulcaire claimed the junior mens title at Santry on 22/11//15 running a very composed race and from shortly after the start the race was never in doubt. Real Cross Country weather greeted our athletes at the Munster even ages in Beufort in Kerry. Whilst the course itself was flat torrential rain and driving winds made it difficult running conditions, especially for the earlier races. It was a first Munsters for many of our young athletes and they acquitted themselves very well in the boys and girls under 9. A large contingent of Ennis Track Athletes traveled to Waterford to run in the even age Munster Cross Country events. The U23 and Novice races were held there also. The course was tough but weather conditions were good and a great days athletics was witnessed by the large crowd present. The most anticipated event by the youngest members of Ennis Track Athletic club is the annual twilight run through the forest which was held on the 25th of September. Once again we were blessed by an unusually mild evening and with the later start than usual the forest looked splendid illuminated by the different colored Tea Lights. A number of Ennis Track Athletes were in action at the All Ireland Schools Track & Field held in Tullamore on 3rd June 2015. An unprecedented 6 medals were won by Ennis Track Athletes competing for their various schools. Most notably there were 2 second place finishes in the steeplechase and in the sprints events Shawn Benson brought home 2 medals, a silver and a bronze, with Tony Odubote also getting a silver in his race.
