Hike to Burren Lough Avalla Farm loop

For any Ennis Track adult members who are interested there will be a hike to the Burren Lough Avalla Farm loop next Wednesday July 8th. Will leave from Shiels garage at 6pm sharp. Wear suitable clothes etc, for further details email Michael at m.mcbride2007@yahoo.com

The farm walk will take about two hours taking time to check out the holy well and to stop for a cup of tea about half way around so bring a flask and a small snack. This loop is way marked with standing stone slabs and passes through an old celtic farm, touching on the shores of Lough Avalla. On sandy roadways, farm tracks, laneways and open Burren ground it includes an ascent to a stone cairn, a line of high ‘cliffs’ and a mix of stone fields, scrub and pastures with great views, particularly of Mullaghmore. Terrain slippy when wet. Wear suitable shoes or hiking boots, bring a small rucksack with some rain gear, flask of tea and an extra layer as it can get cooler in the evening.”
