The GloHealth National Masters Track & Field Championships were held in Tullamore at the weekend. This was the icing on the cake of a very successful season for Ennis Track Athletic Club. Ennis Track Athletes were out in force at this year’s Munster 4 mile championships in Kilnaboy. Ennis Track took home the senior men’s title, second in the men’s novice competition, fourth in the men’s over 35 and first in the men’s over 50.Women were third in the senior women’s competition, third in the novice women’s competition , first in the women’s Over 35, second in the women’s over 45. On the Senior men’s winning team was Kevin Chesser, Liam Naughton, Brian Murphy and David Lyons. Well done to all who competed.…

Sligo Racecourse was the location of the 2016 Irish schools and Inter-varsity Cross Country. Kevin Mulcaire was the star of Ennis Track, winning his second Senior Boy’s Title. He also has two intermediate titles and he is the only schoolboy to hold all four schools titles ever. This was a schools competition and ennis track athletes represented their respective schools. Ennis Track Athletes put on a fine display in Athlone last weekend. Damien Landers qualified from his heat in the 1500m without trouble on Day 1 of the competition. Jemil Saidi battled bravely in the 200m heat in a time of 23.75, but unfortunately did not qualify from his heat, no doubt he will be back stronger again. Kevin Mulcaire and Rory Chesser showed their class in a highly stacked and extremely competitive 5k in Armagh. The two men made the long trip up to Armagh and it paid dividends, as they were the first two Irish men home. Kevin ran a fantastic race to finished 15th in a time of 14.14. Athlone indoor Track was the location of the 2016 IUAA indoor competition. Ennis Track had three athletes competing Damien Landers, Darragh Lynch and Karl Fitzmaurice. Damien and Darragh competed in the 1500m, Damien came second in the race in a time of 3.58, followed very closely by Darragh in fourth in a time of 4.01. Fair play to ye lads. Fresh from their National Novice Cross Country Title. Five Ennis Track men Brian Murphy, Karl Fitzmaurice, Dara, Kevin and Patrick Chesser made the long trip up to Dundalk to claim Ennis Track’s very first National Intermediate Cross Country Title. It was an 8 Km long, mucky and tough course. These conditions made it very difficult for the athletes to run quick. 16th of January 2015 Rory and Kevin Chesser travelled to the U.S.A to compete against Harvard University Athletes. Both brothers were selected to compete for the University of Limerick. The Indoor Athletics Meet was held in the famous Harvard Gordon Indoor Track. Rory ran a brilliant race and ran away with the 3000m in a time of 8.16, with second place nearly 20 seconds behind him.
