A Masterful Performance

The 2014 Irish Masters Track & Field Championships took place yesterday (August 10th) in Tullamore. There was a strong representation of Ennis Track athletes, men and women, many of whom competed in more than one event. Juvenile Athletics – Silver & Bronze

2 Medals at the National Championships.  Following in the footsteps of our senior athletes a number of our talented junior athletes accounted themselves very well at the Juvenile National Track & Field Championships (Saturday, 26/7/14). U12 600m 2nd Albha Doherty in 1.44.28, 5th place Ellie Pike in 1.52.22 U 16 Long jump 3rd Cathal O’Brien with a jump of 5.85m U17 400m 8th Abimbola Sobayo in 65secs U19 Triple Jump 4th Jamil Saidi reaching 12.11m and 8th in 400m in 53.97.

Rory Chesser National Champion 3000m SC

Rory Chesser successfully defended his Irish 3000m steeplechase  title in winning today’s race with a PB of 8:46.95. Tomas Cotter (Dunleer AC) and Rory were clear leaders until the final lap when Chesser made a decisive move to win convincingly in a personal best of 8:46.95 with Cotter second in 8:57.65.

SIAB Schools GOLD

Kevin Mulcaire has added to his considerable tally of gold medals this year with a great win at the 3000m SIAB schools track and field in Cardiff. [spacer style=”1″] A team of over 80 Irish schools athletes will travel to Cardiff on the 19th of July for the SIAB schools international event. They will be competing in a 21-event programme and against top schools athletes from England, Wales and Scotland. Rory Chesser Season Best

On 12 July, Ennis Track’s Rory Chesser contested the Men’s A 1500m at the British Milers Club Grand Prix meet in Manchester. Rory produced a season’s best with a tremendous run of 03:43.39, placing 5th in a strong 13-man field (his PB for 1500m stands at 3:40.74). More Success for Ennis Track at GloHealth Juvenile Championships Day 2

Ennis Track had six athletes competing on day 2 of the GloHealth Juvenile Track & Field Championships in Tullamore. Sean Collins wins the U18 boys 3ooom steeplechase in a time of 9:53.65.  Well done to Sean and his coach Pat Hogan. In the Boys U15 100m Tony Odubote also finished first in a time of  11.54. Barry Coughlan Memorial Open Sports Day

The Ennis Track Club and the Barry Coughlan memorial open sports were held at the Lees Road Sports Complex on Sunday May 19th. There was a fine turnout of Juvenile athletes from Limerick AC, Roscommon AC, St Marys Rathkeale, Moycarkey, Nenagh AC, Dooneen AC, Limerick AC and all Clare Clubs.
