So proud to see our own Jo Keane and Ailbhe Doherty in their Irish singlets. Both girls, pupils of St. Flannan’s, were chosen for the Irish Schools team competing against their counterparts in England, Scotland and Wales in Santry at the SIAB International Track & Field Championships. Ailbhe competed both in the 300m and in the 4 x 300m relay, while Jo competed in the 800m. Delighted to report that both girls came away with bronze medals in their individual events: Ailbhe with a time of 40.31 for the 300m and Jo with a time of 2:12.19 for the 800m. What a great season it’s been for both these athletes!
Other Clare members of the team were Alex O’Neill (Rice College and St. Cronan’s AC), who also contested the 800m, and Darragh Miniter (Ennistymon C.B.S. and St Mary’s AC) who competed in the 100m hurdles.
