The Autumn Open International Cross Country never fails to entertain, some absolutely super performances with times that show what great shape these athletes are heading into the Cross Country Season.
Ennis Track Athletes were there to whet their appetite. First up was the Junior/ Senior and Master Ladies. Laura Healy competed in the 6000m Senior Ladies, finishing 36th in a time of 24:07 and Anne Marie Connellan also doing 6000m finished 28th in the Master Ladies in a time of 24:03.
Three O’Clock saw the Junior, Senior and Master men sprint from the line in what turned out to be a splintering fast race. The Junior Men (U20) competing 6000m where Sean McGinley of Finn Valley AC finished in a superb time of 18:19 with Ennis Tracks Niall Murphy claiming 2nd spot in a time of 18:30 only 2 seconds ahead of 3rd place Cathal O’Reilly of Kilkenny City Harriers AC. The Junior Men’s Team had 3 in the top 6 spots with Dylan Casey finishing 5th with a time of 18:47 just ahead of Mark Hanrahan in 18:49. This U20 Junior Team saw Barry Conway finish 16th with a time of 19:27 and Cian O’Boyle finish 19th in a time of 19:40 with Colin Ryan finishing 29th in a time of 21:04 A massive performance by all these athletes.
Dean Casey ran the 7500m Senior Race today and never let Darragh McElhinney 1st in a time of 22:16 or Keelan Kilrehill 2nd 22:24 get too far ahead to finish a superb 3rd in a time of 22:31.
Finishing off a great weekend for the club. Thank you Ita & Geraldine for the pictures and Sam Barns for the super Podium Senior Mens picture. Roll on the Munster’s Even Age in Cork next Sunday.
