Munster U14 to U19 Outdoor T & F 2017

On a scorcher of a weekend at CIT track, it was great to see so many of our athletes competing – the red and white of Ennis Track was there in force! Below are the highlights:

Girls

Ailbhe Doherty had another superb weekend and had a track worn to the podium, collecting no less than four Munster medals:

  • Gold in the U15 100m with a time of 12.71 sec
  • Gold in the U15 200m in a time of 25.54 sec
  • Gold in the U15 800m in 2:20.82
  • Silver in the U16 4 x 100m relay with teammates Chisom Ugwuera, Sonia Ogbuagu and Jessica Jaielska

Jo Keane won the U18 400m in 58.87 sec, well ahead of the field. Jo was also 3rd in the 800m in 2:25.34, a long way off her best, but watch out for this girl in the All-Irelands!

Neasa Ní Ainiféin narrowly missed out on a medal in the U14 800m with a 4th placed finish, but was rewarded with a bronze for her strong run in the 1500m.

Chisom Ugwuera also notched up 4 medals over the weekend:

  • Silver in the U16 80m hurdles in a time of 12.56
  • Siver in the U16 Long Jump with a jump of 5.14 m
  • Silver in the Triple Jump with 10.02
  • Silver in the U16 4 x 100m relay with Ailbhe Doherty, Sonia Ogbuagu and Jessica Jaielska

Shanice Benson won silver in the U17 discus with a throw of 24.93. She was also in action in the shot putt and the hammer throw, placed 5th overall in both.

Other notable performances among our Ennis Track girls included 6th place from Jessica Jaielska in the U15 100m and 4th and 5th place for Chisom Ugwuera and Sonia Ogbuagu, respectively, in the U16 100m. Wonderful to see two Ennis Track singlets at the start line of both these finals! Sonia was also prominent in the 200m final, finishing 5th. Jessica also did very well in the long jump, making it to the final 8 and finishing in 6th place overall. Laura Healy finished 5th in the U16 800m and 6th in the 1500m, while Leah O’Neill was 5th in the 1500m. Aisling Healy also represented her club very well in the U14 200m and 75m hurdles.
