A Masterful Performance

The 2014 Irish Masters Track & Field Championships took place yesterday (August 10th) in Tullamore. There was a strong representation of Ennis Track athletes, men and women, many of whom competed in more than one event.

[list][item icon=”127942″ ]Mary Cahill (M35) was 8th in the 800m in a time of 2:40.53 and 4th in the long jump with a jump of 3.84m.[/item]

[item icon=”127942″ ]Alex Conway (M40) had a busy day, achieving medals in all his three events. He was  2nd in the Shot Putt with a throw of 10.02m, 3rd in the discus with 28.88m and 3rd in the javelin with a throw of 25.23m.[/item]

[item icon=”127942″ ]David Courtney (M50) likewise was busy, also bagging medals in all three events. He was 3rd in long jump with a jump of 4.16m, 3rd in discus with a throw of 34.14m, and finally with a mighty throw of 42.69 he scooped gold in the javelin.[/item]

[item icon=”127942″ ]Martin Curley (M35) was 4th in his high-jump event with a jump of 1.40m.[/item]

[item icon=”127942″ ]Tom Jones (M65) was 3rd in the 56lb weight for distance event with a throw of 6.97m.[/item]

[item icon=”127942″ ]Pat Morrissey (M50) also competed in three track events. He was 11th in the 200m in a time of 29.75s, 8th in the 800m in a time of 2:28.76 and 6th in the 1500m race in a time of 5:00.07.[/item]

[item icon=”127942″ ]John Murphy (M45) placed 7th in his 800m race with a time of 2:27.71 and 8th in his 1500m event with a time of 5:09.83.[/item]

[item icon=”127942″ ]Jackie O’Connor (M35) brought home the bronze in her 800m final in a time of 2:28.15, and then put in another great performance to finish 5th in the 1500m in a time of 5:14.36.[/item]

[item icon=”127942″ ]Marion O’Loughlin (M50) was our second gold medallist of the day with a win in the 800m in a time of 3:31.74, followed by a silver medal in the 1500m in a time of 7:13.04.[/item][/list]
