With ideal weather conditions there was a very good turnout for the Ennis Track Athletic Club Annual Sports Day held at Lees Road on Sunday 26th April 2015. Ennis Track AC would like to sincerely thank the Clare clubs that supported our day along with the clubs that came some distance including Westport AC, North Cork Athletic Club, Limerick AC with some individual runners hailing from Blackrock AC. Their presence greatly added to the enjoyment of the day and provided some stiff competition for the Clare athletes.

There was a good selection of track events starting with the tiny tots race, sprints, middle distance and field events including turbo javelin, shot-put and long jump. The Barry Coughlan Memorial Mile was won by Kevin Mulcaire, Rory Chesser in 2nd place and Sean Collins in third. Niamh Markham won the women’s mile.

The final events of the day, and the one that causes most excitement were the mixed relays with many athletes from different clubs coming together to make up teams, showing the true spirit of sport.

Finally many thanks to the officials on the day and to the volunteers from the club that freely give their time to help stage a successful event.
