National Junior & U23 Championships

There were eight Ennis Track athletes in contention at the GloHealth National Junior and U23 Championships in Tullamore on Sunday. Jemil Saidi was 6th in the Junior Men’s triple jump with a jump of 12.40m; Jemil also competed in the Junior Men’s 400m, coming 4th in his heat in a time of 52.84s. Congratulations to the 11 Ennis Track athletes who represented their club so well at the All-Ireland Juvenile Games in Tullamore last Saturday (27th June). Ennis Track was well represented at the Munster U9-U13 Track & Field Championships with a team of 18 boys and girls. Over the 2 days of competition there were some outstanding results. BRILLANT SLIVER FOR ENNIS TRACK The National Road Relay Championships took place in Raheny, Sunday, 19th April and Ennis Track sent their strongest contingent in recent years. The race is ran over a mile loop, with each team completing a 2mile, 1mile, 3mile and 2mile legs for men and 1mile, two mile and mile for the women. Easter Promise

Ennis Track men and ladies athletes have certainly made their presence felt across the counties over the Easter. An indication of what was to come was evident in the large turnout for (Holy) Thursday night training in Kilnaboy to run the 10 Mile course. It was raining, which blocked out the scenery. National Masters Indoors

Congratulations to all the Ennis Track Athletes who took part in the National Indoor Masters in Athlone last weekend (15th March). In the O35 Long Jump, Mary Cahill won silver, while Helen O’Hanlon was 2nd in the 800m and 3rd in the 1500m. Alex Conway was 3rd in the 60m and 60 m hurdles O45, while Ennis Track stalwart Sean Whelan was 2nd in the O65 800m. Also representing their club were John Murphy, Pat Morrissey and Martin Curley.
